The Better Business Network are delighted to be partners of the Mid-Summer Sustainability Festival at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) on Friday 16th June.
We will be exhibiting and speaking across the day! The festival looks to be action-packed, featuring a plethora of activities, including talks, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and sustainable business market stalls that will leave you feeling inspired and invigorated.
What is the festival covering?
The festival revolves around the theme of transformative action. It offers a unique space to share knowledge, interact, learn, collaborate and converse with a diverse range of participants discussing climate change, social justice, and action.
These topics have all been developed by the Department of Strategy, Enterprise, and Sustainability at MMU in partnership with the local community and other partners in the city.
This will be an engaging and reflective day, with plenty of fun and creativity to go around and lots of opportunities to feel inspired and ready to take action.
You will also hear from organisations like Greenpeace, WWF, Play it Green, and Amnesty International, among others.
While you’re at it, take a moment to catch Queen Bayard, an eco-conscious singer, performer, and drag artist showing off the gorgeous sustainable clothes made by MMU students from recycled plastic. Don’t miss out on the chance to attend this fantastic event, open to all students, staff, sustainable businesses, and community members.
Why have we partnered with MMU on this event?
The Better Business Network have partnered with MMU on this event because we believe strongly in the importance of local, community grassroots work.
This festival has been built in partnership with the local community, local businesses and students in the community, and in order to create a better world, we must remember that change can come from the bottom up – not just the top down.
We also have strong ties with MMU after hosting our inaugural conference the Better Business Summit there in January, and the University have been consistently ranked one of the most sustainable universities in the UK. They do lots of excellent work in supporting local businesses tackle the green transition, and we are proud to consider them long-term partners.
