A Note From our Founder Hannah: On Gaza and Our Values
Dear BBN Community,
I wanted to share something important with you before it goes live publicly tomorrow.
As the Founder of the Better Business Network (BBN), I have signed an open letter calling on the UK Government to take immediate and concrete action in response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The letter will be signed by business leaders across the UK who believe that, as professionals, we have a responsibility to speak out in defence of international law, peace, and human rights.
At the BBN, we are committed to creating a world that works better for everyone. That includes standing up in moments of crisis. I’ve spoken about this publicly and in person but I felt it was important to put it in writing and share it directly with you, our community.
I also want to be very clear: I strongly condemn antisemitism in all its forms.
I believe that remaining silent in the face of mass civilian suffering, displacement and systematic destruction is not neutral and am personally dismayed at the lack of public leadership from the business networks and communities that claim to represent businesses for good.
This statement reflects my personal values and the kind of leadership I believe the BBN must stand for. If that doesn’t align with your own values, I respect that. In all honesty, this may not be the right network for you.
We are a community for those committed to justice, equity and the courage to speak up especially when it’s difficult.
This is a sensitive and painful topic. But I believe we must stand for something or we stand for nothing.
That’s why I wanted to be transparent with you ahead of time and to let you know I’m here to speak if you have concerns or questions.
You are always welcome to reach out directly (If you are a member, I have sent an email with my mobile number or contact me on hannah@thebetterbusiness.network)
