Young voices have big say at Better Business Summit 2025

Don’t you agree that young people should also have their say about big problems like climate change?

That’s why a group of our reporters broadcasted their confidence at the Better Business Summit in Manchester, taking place from 15-17 January 2025.

The event focused on the theme of future-proofing our world; what better way to put this into action than bringing the next generation along to share their thoughts!

Media Cubs reporters aged 10-15 interviewed businesses to find out how they are making a positive impact in their work, as well as getting advice about making a difference themselves now and in future career paths.

Amongst the attendees and speakers were representatives from Patagonia, Swizzels, Toms, Dryrobe and many more.

After being inspired at the event, the reporters also each pledged one thing that they would do to help the environment, such as remembering to use their reusable bags… or purchasing an electric car when they’re older!

Kirsty Day, media director at Media Cubs, said: “By giving young people a seat at the table (and a microphone in hand!), we showed the value of including diverse voices in shaping the world of business. It was fantastic to see the reporters engaging with really important topics that will impact their future and positively standing out in a room full of adults. They did a great job of asking big questions and representing the next generation.”

Director of the Better Business Network, Hannah Cox said “Having Media Cubs at BBS was essential for us. The Summit is all about bringing businesses together to learn and take action. Giving young people the chance to have that voice and contribute to the future of business allowed them to feel valued and business leaders to be exposed to new ideas. For our young reporters, being able to be in a University setting, surrounded by industry leaders is great exposure and inspires them to continue taking action.”

A big thank you to Grace Dyke and Kirsty Day for facilitating this and allowing us to represent young voices at the Better Business Summit.
