Who are the Re-Action Collective and what are they actually doing at the event?

The Re-Action Collective was formed to demonstrate an alternative and better future for the outdoor industry. They are retelling the consumer story that says we need expensive, shiny new, highly technical kit to access the outdoors. They know this isn’t true. They also know a lack of access to basic outdoor kit is a barrier to people getting outside and active to benefit their physical and mental health.

Part of their thinking relates to the traditional concept of the high street, which they believe is no longer fit for purpose. It is undergoing a profound transformation killed by internet shopping / race to the bottom in terms of quality and pricing? Now overtaken by charity shops that aren't serving the community or helping solve the huge clothing waste problem (since 80%+ is bundled up and sent overseas to places like Ghana).

At Re-Action their reimagined alternative high street represents a shift towards a more inclusive, environmentally conscious, human experience. Moving beyond the consumer towards the citizen. They reimagine public spaces as vibrant hubs of community interaction, fostering connections between individuals and promoting sustainable living practices.

At the event they are bringing a dynamic and interactive space that demonstrates practical alternatives to the consumer story, showcasing the benefits of repurpose, repair, sharing, and outdoor activities for both environmental and personal well-being.

They will engage attendees in hands-on experiences and educational activities that promote sustainable living, making it fun and engaging for the attendees to take action across a range of Swap Shops, Repair Shops, Repurpose Shops and more!

We can’t wait!
