Monday 4th Sept | 2-3pm | SPEED NETWORKING | Online

Our monthly virtual Speed Networking for Purpose Driven Businesses connects like-minded business owners who care about their social and environmental impact to help their businesses grow and create positive systemic change.

HOW DOES THE EVENT WORK?

Virtual speed networking is a fun and quick way for you to meet other purpose led business leaders. Over the course of 60 minutes, our host places you in one to one breakout sessions to meet five new business contacts. We don’t encourage a hard sell environment, these are friendly, supportive and collaborative sessions that allow you to build your network with other organisations that care about their social and environmental impact.

RSVP is required to receive the Zoom link (This often ends up in your spam folder – check for an email from WordPress) RSVP for free to our September Speed Networking event here or check out our upcoming events here

This event is always free to Members but you can join as a guest for free to try it out.

Thursday 14th Sept | 10:30-12:30pm | CATALYST CONVERSATION – ‘Building a team for a better world’ | X+Why Manchester

This is a members only event Catalyst Conversation.

If you are a tier four or above BBN Member and fancy coming down, or you would just simply love to get involved, please get in contact with our Community Manager James at james@thebetterbusiness.network and we’ll see what we can do!

WHAT IS THE SESSION ABOUT?

The session will talk through two things that are key to building a team for a better world:

How to hire:  how can a purpose-driven organisation effectively and ethically recruit the right people that align with the values and mission of the business. Discussing where to look for the right candidates, how to assess candidates, how to ensure the process is ethical and fair considering the progressive EDI aims + values of your organisation.

How to retain: how can and should a purpose-driven organisation operate and support it’s employees. We will discuss topics such as what employee benefits should you offer, how to build a fair and respectful workplace culture, best practice on people management skills.

The idea that the “best hire is the one you’ve already got if you treat them fairly” is central to the second half of the conversation.

WHAT ARE ‘CATALYST CONVERSATIONS’?

Similar to a roundtable, catalyst conversations split attendees into groups of 6 people to discuss the topic, the challenges businesses face when trying to build a team for a better world, and the opportunities to have a greater positive impact. This provides a peer learning opportunity as well as final next steps action points from all attendees.

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE?

We’re running this session for 2 hours, between 10.30 and 12.30 (with a coffee break in the middle!).

This catalyst conversation is intentionally scheduled on the same day as our Better Business Breakfast Networking session, so attendees can come in for coffee, fruit and pastries and stay for valuable connections with other like-minded businesses!
